HCA Highlights 2025
editHome Connectivity Alliance entered 2025 with a focus on commercial adoption and delivering on our mission to provide consumers with safe and secure interoperability and energy savings across long-life appliances, HVAC systems and TVs within the connected home ecosystem. It has been a busy year so far for HCA, with new members joining the alliance, progress on the HCA Cybersecurity Governance Guidelines, and a variety of speaking opportunities. Keep reading for some highlights from Q1 and a look ahead to the remainder of the year.
HCA Cybersecurity Governance Guildelines v2.0 Avilable
HCA published the Cybersecurity Governance Guidelines v2.0 on our website. Based on the EU’s cybersecurity policies, the guidelines specify requirements for Home Connectivity Alliance members to interoperate with other HCA members, while ensuring the secuirty and privacy of consumers using HCA members’ connected products. Version 2.0 adds a Vendor Security Assesment Questionnaire (VSAQ) to ensure a baseline of cybersecurity requirements for cloud-to-cloud interoperability.
HCA Speaks at Industry Events
At CES in January, HCA President Yoon Ho Choi was part of a panel at the CONNECTIONS Summit: Business of Smart Home, presented by Parks Associtates. The session, “Smart Home Standards & Platforms: Who’s Winning,” was an excellent opportunity to explore the continued effort for collarboration through standards efforts.
HCA TWG Chair John Hughes also participated in the “Enhancing Engagement: Data Sharing and Enery Monitoring” panel at the Smart Energy Summit in March, also hosted by Parks Associates. This panel delved into the strategies and emerging trends that ensure the right information reaches consumers, fostering informed decision-making and active participation in energy management.

Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance Joins HCA
HCA welcomed Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance as our newest member. Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance is the largest property and casualty insurer in Korea and has a worldwide network of 20 offices in 11 countries. SFMI is an active participant in HCA’s Insurance Task Force.
Looking Ahead
As we look head to the remainder of the year, HCA is excited to speak at CONNECTIONS: The Premier Connected Home Conference on May 13-15 in Dallas, TX. We also look forward to supporting many of our members participating in IFA 2025 on Sept. 5-9 in Berlin, Germany. Watch for upcoming announcements from HCA as we continue to transform the business of the connected home.
